Event preview, predictions

It has taken almost two years but the rematch is finally here. Jack Catterall believes he was robbed of winning a championship belt in February 2022 after a controversial split-decision win was awarded to Josh Taylor. Catterall boxed brilliantly during the whole fight and even managed to get a knockdown in round eight. There was an uproar from the boxing community when the scorecards were read out as many felt that Taylor lost the fight undoubtedly.

In the aftermath, Josh Taylor felt he won the first fight but admitted he performed very poorly on the night. He said that he didn’t take his opponent seriously heading into the bout and wouldn’t be making the same mistake on this occasion.

Along with all the controversy surrounding the fight these two fighters just don’t like each other. There seems to be genuine bad blood between the two as they have almost come to blows several times on the media tour.

The fight was originally meant to take place on the 27th of April but Taylor was not given medical clearance to fight due to issues with his eyes. Both fighters now have one defeat on their record since the last fight as the ‘Tartan Tornado’ suffered his first defeat last year at the hands of Teofimo Lopez.

This fight is finely poised heading into Saturday night. We predict a more exciting bout this time around with ‘El Gato’ getting his hand rightfully raised.
