Match previews, predictions

Two of the tournament favorites clash on Friday night in Leipzig having both come away with three points from their opening games. Neither side was at their best but managed to get over the line narrowly.

The Dutch left it late to secure their win with Wout Weghorst coming off the bench to secure the victory after Cody Gakpo put them level in the first half. Poland did trouble them often in the game, so there may be some tinkering for Friday night by manager Ronald Koeman. Jeremie Frimpong could be utilized from the start to add more fluidity and pace to their attack.

France will be sweating on the availability of Kylian Mbappe who suffered a broken nose in their 1-0 win over Austria. It is being reported that he could play in a protective mask but it will be up to Didier Deschamps to determine whether it is worth risking the player with so much of the tournament still to be played. If the manager decides against risking his captain we could see Olivier Giroud or Randal Kolo Muani deputise. Elsewhere, we don’t expect many changes to the French side. N’golo Kante was a stand-out performer in the first game and looked back to his best.

We predict France will narrowly come away with the win on Friday.
