Switzerland and Italy finished as runners-up in Group A and B respectively, while table-toppers Germany will face another runner-up in Denmark, with both games expected to be closely-fought given the quality that each team possesses within their squads.

Although they lack stand-out stars again this time round, the Azzurri will feel more than capable of seeing off the Swiss to advance and take another step closer to defending their crown, while hosts Germany surely have the individuals to produce the level of performance needed to defeat the Danes.

Italy boss Luciano Spalletti is expected to make changes for this one as he freshens things up and looks for an improved performance after seeing his side struggle in the final two group games, and although Switzerland have a strong core to their side with Sommer, Akanji and Xhaka amongst others, Italy may have that extra bit of quality to get them over the line.

As for Germany, with the options that boss Julien Nagelsmann has at his disposal across the pitch, coupled with having the backing of a home crowd, it’s difficult to see Denmark being able to contain them over the course of the 90 minutes and so coupled with their limited firepower, Germany will fancy their chances of making it through.

We’re expecting relatively low-scoring affairs in both, but we see Germany and Italy edging it and securing safe passage into the quarter-finals as they watch on to see who will join them in the coming days.
