Match predictions, preview & predicted lineups

West Ham has made several big changes since last season and fans will be very excited to see what their side can produce this season. New manager, Julen Lopetegui has a very different style of football to previous manager David Moyes so we should expect to see a very different version of ‘The Hammers’ on Saturday.

Along with the new manager, there have also been several new signings over the summer who will hope to feature in the opening game, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Jean Clair Todibo, and striker Niclas Fullkrug.

Opponents Aston Villa will be looking to continue with their fine form from last season after they managed to finish fourth in the league and qualify for the Champions League. Unai Emery has done an amazing job so far and will be confident that his side can kick on now and compete on all fronts.

Villa have added fullback Ian Maatsen to their squad after impressive displays in Germany playing for Borussia Dortmund, and Belgian midfielder Amadou Onana from Everton for a club record deal. Both players will hope to make their debuts on Saturday.

We are predicting a narrow win for West Ham this weekend.

Predicted lineups:

West Ham: Areola, Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson, Soucek, Ward Prowse, Paqueta, Kudus, Bowen, Fullkrug

Aston Villa: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Torres, Maatsen, Onana, McGinn, Bailey, Tielemans, Rogers, Watkins
