Last year, Channel 4 held the rights to England’s Nations League fixtures, but now ITV has swooped in and taken over the exclusive rights in a deal lasting until June 2028.
It is England’s first competitive game since their defeat to Spain in the final of the European Championships and a lot has changed since then.
Gareth Southgate has left the managerial role and was temporarily replaced by former Under 21’s coach, Lee Carsley. Carsley, who has a great deal of experience within the England set-up was deemed the appropriate choice to take charge in the short-term.
In his first squad selection, there are some fresh new faces and returns for some more senior players. Jack Grealish is back within the group despite barely featuring for Man City this season. The new interim manager has given first England call-ups to Tino Livramento, Angel Gomes, and Morgan Gibbs-White who will be hoping to make their debuts at some point over the two games.
The trio of Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, and Ollie Watkins have withdrawn from the squad due to retrospective fitness and illness concerns.
