While Jurgen Klopp’s farewell this season won’t end with a Premier League title, Villa still have plenty to play for as a win against the Reds will secure fourth place and subsequently a spot in the Champions League next season.

Unai Emery’s side have completed some memorable wins at home this year already having defeated both Arsenal and Manchester City in December, and although he’ll have a depleted and fatigued squad at his disposal this week, he’ll hope that they’ve got one last big shift left in them.

Villa vs Liverpool preview and prediction

While Liverpool will of course still be motivated by trying to give Klopp a winning send off in his last two games at the helm, their recent form has been shaky with two defeats and a draw in their last five outings.

Based on recent performances, Villa look as though they may well need a favour elsewhere this week to deny Tottenham the opportunity to catch them for fourth spot, and it’s no surprise given the lengthy injury absentee list they’re dealing with.

That has also put a heavier workload on those available to Emery as fatigue has set in, but with the backing of their fans at Villa Park, back them to make it a special night and get the win that books their place in the Champions League.

Villa did it in similar fashion last season as a win over Brighton in their final game at home, and of the season, secured their spot in the Europa Conference League, and they know how much this game means to the club and the fans.

If Emery gets good news on the injury front prior to kick-off that will only make it more doable as he’ll hope to have at least Youri Tielemans back in the matchday squad, but we’re going with a Villa win in this one as their fantastic season ends in perfect fashion as they dig deep and claim all three points.
