Match previews, predictions
The last time England and Denmark faced each other was at Euro 2020 when England narrowly won in extra time thanks to a penalty from Harry Kane. Now the two meet again in the group stage knowing a win would all but cement their place in the knockout stage of the tournament.
England won their first game 1-0 against Serbia in what was a very average performance overall. Jude Bellingham was England’s match-winner on the night and was one of the few stand-out performers from the attacking players on show. A plus for England was the defense, particularly Marc Guehi’s display, as he proved that he was more than ready to step in and do a job when called upon. We don’t expect many changes from Gareth Southgate, although he may opt to start Connor Gallagher in the heart of the midfield for some extra legs.
The Danes drew their opening game against Slovenia, 1-1. Christian Eriksen put them in front in the first half before Slovenia equalized courtesy of a deflected effort towards the end. It was a below-par display from Denmark so manager Kasper Hjulmand may look to make some changes to his starting lineup on Thursday. Brentford’s midfield duo, Mathias Jensen and Christian Norgaard will be pushing for starts having barely featured so far.
We predict England will look better as the tournament progresses and should come away from Stuttgart with all three points.
