Preview & predictions

Monday is a good opportunity for Gareth Southgate to have a look at some of the fringe players available to him. With limited spaces up for grabs, it is a chance for these players to impress and stake their claim to be on the plane to Germany.

The manager has already revealed that he will be missing several key players at St James’ Park due to injury or fatigue, including the likes of Anthony Gordon, Bukayo Saka, and John Stones. Jude Bellingham will also miss out as he is being given extra time off after his Champions League final win on Wednesday night. Kieran Trippier is set to captain the side as Harry Kane is likely to be rested.

England’s opponents Bosnia & Hercegovina have not qualified for Euro 2024 on this occasion. New manager, Sergej Berbarez takes charge of his first game for the national team. Captain and record goal scorer Edin Dzeko is expected to lead the line for the away side.

We predict a comfortable victory for England tonight.
