Preview & predictions

This is Gareth Southgate’s last opportunity to assess his squad before his side jet off to Germany. On Thursday the news broke that he has already decided which 7 players will be omitted from the traveling squad. The most noticeable of the absentees was Jack Grealish who was expected to make the squad after his appearance off the bench on Monday. James Maddison and Jarrod Branthwaite also missed out along with Harry Maguire who is deemed not fit enough.

Friday will be a chance for several players to show what they can bring to this England side. Southgate will be able to call upon the players that featured in the FA Cup final, including the likes of Kyle Walker, Phil Foden, and Kobbie Mainoo who have recently joined up with the rest of the squad. It will be interesting to see how England lineup and if we may get a preview of his first choice eleven heading into the tournament.

Regardless of the starting lineup we fully expect England to be too strong for their opponents, Iceland. Home win
