Preview, predictions

Group C is nicely poised heading into the final match day. All four countries can still qualify for the round of 16 stage.

England sit top of the group with four points and have already qualified for the next round of the competition. After a poor performance last time out against Denmark, there is an expectation from the fans to see a much better display from the players. Their opponents Slovenia are undefeated so far in the tournament and are unlucky not to be joint top with England after they suffered a last-minute equaliser at the hands of Serbia in their last outing.

We expect Gareth Southgate to make changes for this game. There is a clamber for his side to be more dominant on the ball and to kill off matches once they go ahead. Conor Gallagher is an obvious option to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield to add some ferocity in the middle of the park.

The likes of Anthony Gordon and Cole Palmer will be desperate to feature for the first time in the tournament, especially as England has looked below-par in attack. Luke Shaw was spotted back in training on Monday but isn’t expected to be risked in this one. We predict that England will get the win and top the group.

Luka Jovic’s late header against Slovenia has given his Serbian side a chance of qualifying for the next stage. Serbia takes on an undefeated Denmark side that played well against group leaders England on Thursday, holding them to a draw.

Dragan Stojkovic knows that his side needs to win to have a chance of progressing. If they beat Denmark and England beat Slovenia Serbia would finish in second place in the group, and even if England doesn’t win four points should be enough to qualify in third place. Luka Jovic will be pushing for a start after his heroics last time out, and midfielder Milenkovic-Savic is likely to be recalled to the starting lineup.

Denmark are currently second in the group with two draws and could even finish in second place with another draw if England beat Slovenia, meaning they could qualify with just three points. We don’t expect many changes to the Danish side after their impressive display against England, however, several players are at risk of suspension, including Jannik Vestergaard and Pierre-Emile Hobjerg. We predict that Denmark will beat Serbia on Thursday night in Munich.
