Preview, predictions
England has made history by making it to their first-ever final on foreign soil. They defeated the Dutch in the semi-final courtesy of a late goal from Ollie Watkins. Gareth Southgate’s side played some of their best football of the tournament in the first half, but then faded in the second half as fatigue started to kick in.
The manager will have to decide whether Luke Shaw is deemed fit enough to start the game, as his presence gave England more stability on the left-hand side in the second half. Other than the potential inclusion of Shaw, we should expect to see a similar side to the one that faced the Netherlands on Wednesday.
Until now, Spain has been the best team in the competition by a long way. They have won every game en route to the final and have looked good in the process. Lamine Yamal’s superb strike last time against France inspired the comeback, leading to them getting a much-deserved win on the night. De la Fuente will have Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand back and available after suspension. Jesus Navas and Nacho who deputized for the pair are expected to make way.
We predict Spain will edge past England and claim their fourth European Championship.
