Liverpool put their season back on track with none too convincing win against Fulham on Sunday. Everton also had a much-needed and, as it turns out, a very controversial win against fellow strugglers and deductees Nottingham Forest. There have been 243 Merseyside derbies in 130 years with Liverpool coming out on top 99 times, Everton 67 with 77 draws.

Will Liverpool make it a century of wins? They should do, as they haven’t lost at Goodison Park since 2010 and apart from their recent hiccup are having a much better season than the Toffees. But Liverpool have a nasty habit this season of going a goal down before coming back to win. No doubt they’ll give their supporters the usual jitters, but they have too much strength and class for their current Stanley Park neighbours.
