Match preview, predictions
Julian Nagelsmann will take charge of his first competitive game for the German national side on Friday when they face Scotland. There will be extra pressure on him and his players as the tournament will be taking place on home soil in front of their own fans.
During his tenure so far Nagelsmann has put together a squad with a good mixture of youth and experience. His side has produced some good results recently beating the Netherlands and more noticeably winning away against France. There will be optimism amongst the home support that their side can get off to a solid start on Friday. Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz will be two players to watch after performing so well for their clubs throughout the domestic season.
Scotland will relish the underdog status heading into the curtain raiser. They managed to gain automatic qualification into the tournament after some memorable displays during their qualifying campaign. They beat Erling Haaland’s Norway away and also beat the overall group winners Spain at Hamden Park, so they are definitely not a team to be taken lightly.
Steve Clark will be optimistic about his side’s chances of progressing through the group on this occasion. The likes of Scott McTominay, Andy Robertson, and John McGinn will be pivotal for Scotland if they are to get a result on Friday night in Munich. We expect a close game with Germany just getting over the line on home soil.
