Match predictions, preview & predicted lineups
Celtic have won the Scottish Premiership 12 years out of the last 13 and this Sunday’s first Old Firm Derby of the season will show us if Rangers have any chance of winning their first title since 2021. No other side apart from these two have won Scotland’s top division since 1985 when Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen were champions.
Celtic are unbeaten after three games having scored nine goals and conceded none, while Rangers drew 0-0 at Hearts in the first game, then winning the next two. Rangers were also beaten by Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League qualifying, so not the best start to the season. Rangers last won at a covid empty Celtic Park in 2020, eight games ago.
Brendan Rogers has enjoyed a successful return to Celtic winning the Premiership last season to add to the three previous wins. This season he should make it five in total and continue Celltic’s dominance of Rangers with a win this weekend.
Predicted lineups:
Celtic: Schmeichel; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; Bernardo, McGregor, Hatate; Forrest, Idah, Maeda
Rangers: Butland; Tavernier, Souttar, Balogun, Jefte; Sterling, Barron; Cerny, Lawrence, Matondo; Dessers
