Match predictions, preview & predicted lineups

New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca prepares to go up against Pep Guardiola in his first Premier League game for the ‘Blues’. Maresca was one of Pep’s assistants at Man City during their recent treble-winning season in 2023.

Maresca has a huge squad to choose from on Sunday and it will be interesting to see which kind of team he decides to deploy. Fans will be excited to see Christopher Nkunku play after spending the majority of his first season at the club injured. New signing Pedro Neto will be expected to make his debut but may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Man City will be the favorites to win the league again this season and have already clinched another trophy by beating Man Utd in the community shield last weekend.

Euro 2024 winner and key midfielder Rodri will miss out this weekend as he has only recently returned from his holidays and isn’t deemed fit enough. Another player to miss out is Oscar Bobb who suffered a fractured leg in training. He was due to start the season after impressing in all of City’s preseason games on tour, but now may be sidelined for several months.

We predict that Man City will come away from London with all three points.

Predicted Lineups:

Chelsea: Sanchez, Gusto, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella, Enzo, Caicedo, Madueke, Palmer, Nkunku, Jackson

Man City: Ederson, Walker, Dias, Akanji, Gvardiol, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Doku, Bernardo, Foden, Haaland
