Match predictions & preview
After the drawn T20 series, England and Australia now have a five match ODI series starting at Trent Bridge, a mini-Ashes. It’s a risk having cricket in the latter half of September and it seems they will be lucky with the weather for the first couple, but not sure about the last two at the end of the month. Scheduling is also a problem with the matches unlikely to attract full houses despite it being England vs Australia. Australia trounced England in the first T20, but England fought back well in the second thanks to Liam Livingstone with both bat and ball. Australia looked the stronger team, now strengthened by the addition of Steve Smith, Marcus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Stark. Harry Brook captains the English ODI side for the first time and Ben Duckett and Jamie Smith have been added from the Test side. I still think that Australia look far too powerful for an experimental England side and I expect Australia to win at Trent Bridge and win the series 2-1 with two matches washed out.
