Match preview, prediction & teams
Nothing would give Japan’s coach Eddie Jones greater pleasure than to beat his successor Steve Borthwick’s England side at Twickenham. And should that happen it would probably mean the end of Borthwick’s career as English coach. England did beat Japan earlier this year on their way to play the All Blacks and losing at home would be one of the major upsets of all time. Tom Curry and George Furbank have been brought back to the starting XV and at last Fin Smith is on the bench as back-up fly-half, too little too late. Freddie Steward is unlucky to be dropped after last week. 20 year-old prop Asher Opuku-Fordjour is also on the bench and likely to make his England debut. England to win, but they need to do more than win. They need to win impressively and decisively to go into the Six Nations with any confidence. Their first game is against Ireland in Dublin on February 1st.
