Preview & Prediction

Day 2

New Zealand won the toss, batted and scored 235 which seemed short of what was needed, until Virat Kohli needlessly ran himself out in the last over of the day. The Indian spinners took nine of the wickets with Jadeja taking five and Sundar four. The New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santer, hero of the second Test victory, is out injured which obviously weakens their attack. Expect India to have a small advantage on first innings, but having to bat last on this pitch will prove difficult.

Day 1

Will India avoid a three nil series defeat? You would have thought with India preparing a spinning pitch in Pune that their spinners would prevail. But it was the New Zealand spinners, Mitchell Santer in particular with a career best of 13 for 157, who bamboozled India’s batsmen. After that performance a turning wicket in Mumbai can hold no fears for New Zealand batsmen, even without their best batter Kane Williamson. India will be desperate to restore some pride before they head off to play Australia at the end of November. Toss probably crucial, so whoever wins that wins the match.
