How to watch The Breeders’ Cup
The main question is can Aidan O’Brien’s City of Troy show the same form on the Del Mat dirt as he has on his three runs on the English Turf? No European horse has won the Breeders’ Cup Classic and City of Troy’s only exposure to dirt was a trail run at Southwell in September. City of Troy is by US Triple Crown winner Justify so is certainly bred for it and plan has always for him to end his career at the Breeders’ Cup. A very interesting race in prospect.

Race previews
Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint – 19:41
The British have three well-fancied runners including last year’s winner Big Evs. Bradsell has better form this year and is a shorter price, but US trained Cogburn is favourite. A little flutter on Big Evs to retain his crown.
Breeders’ Cup Turf – 21:01
Charlie Appleby has a great record in the Breeders’ Cup with 10 previous winners including Rebel Romance who runs today and won this race in 2022. After a disrupted 2023 season Rebel Romance has discovered his form with four wins around the world favourite, Emily Upjohn, in her last race, is looking to recapture previous seasons’ form, but it looks like her best form is behind her so no glorious swansong. Ignore Aidan O’Brien at your peril, though both Luxembourg and Wingspan look short of top class in the absence of City of Troy, who runs in the Classic. Rebel Romance is the selection.
Breeders’ Cup Classic – 21:41
This looks like a race between the US trained Fierceness, winner of Saratoga’s Travers Stakes, but well down the field when favourite for the Kentucky Derby, the Japanese horse Forever Young, a winner in Dubai and third in the Kentucky Derby and the favourite City of Troy from Ireland. Aidan O’Brien is meticulous in the preparation of his horses and City of Troy should give him his first Breeders’ Cup Classic.
