Match predictions & preview

The winner should come from the winner of the first semi-final, with Surrey and Somerset being the two best teams left in the competition. They have already met this week in the County Championship where they remain first and second after Somerset won a nail-biter on Thursday evening bowling out Surrey with 5 minutes to spare and close the gap at the top of the table to Somerset have never won the County Championship and would probably take that over the Blast trophy. Both would be good. However the teams will look different from the 4 day teams with Chris Jordan and Laurie Evans coming in for Surrey and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Will Smeed, Jake Ball, Josh Davey and Roelof van der Merwe possibly coming in for Somerset. The ridiculous clash of a major domestic competition and an England/Australia T20 game means Surrey will be without Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Reece Topley and Jamie Overton, severely weakening them. So Somerset to win the first semi-final. Sussex will also lose Jofra Archer to the international match, but should still prove too strong for Gloucestershire. So a Somerset/Sussex final with the West Country side to take the part of a historic double.
