Event preview, predictions

It has been just over a year since the UFC came to the UK, but on this occasion, there is a slight twist as this weekend’s event in Manchester will be taking place on US time. So, UK fight fans make sure to set your alarms!

The main event features two fighters at the top of their game. Champion, Leon ‘Rocky’ Edwards aims to defend his crown for the third successive time. He has not lost since 2015, and since then has managed to rise to the top of the welterweight division with consistently impressive displays against some of the top contenders.

His opponent Belal Muhammad is also on an impressive winning streak and will be looking to claim gold for the first time in his career. The pair fought previously in 2021 when the fight was halted due to Muhammad suffering an accidental eye poke at the hands of Leon Edwards, so this weekend will be an opportunity for both fighters to finally settle the score.

We predict that the champion will retain his belt on home soil.

Also on the card is the interim heavyweight champion and Manchester’s own, Tom Aspinall up against Curtis Blaydes. This is another rematch after their first fight was stopped prematurely because Aspinall suffered a knee injury in the opening round.
