Manchester City v Manchester Utd – Sky Sports Premier League – 15.30

If Man Utd can’t beat Fulham at home, what chance have they got to beat the neighbours away the next weekend? Two chances, slim and none and slim just left town. But this is a derby and current form often goes out the window. It is very odd that derby matches involving very few hometown players (perhaps one or two for both teams) still engender in players a supernormal will to win. The crowds, the atmosphere, all help to lift the players with the Blues having the majority of support today. City won the reverse fixture earlier this season at Old Trafford. Man Utd haven’t won at the Emirates since January 2021 and they also won the previous season, but since then Man City have won 4-1 and 6-3. City also scored six against Luton in the FA Cup midweek with Erling Haaland scoring five. Now back in tandem with Kevin de Bruyne, Haaland has rediscovered his shooting boots. Man City look unstoppable and will more put pressure on beleaguered Man Utd manager Erik den Hag.
