Brighton have got their season off to a flier and deservedly lead the Premier League after two games scoring four goals in each game. West Ham beat Chelsea last weekend in a hard fought match, but expect Brighton to prevail with their speed and energy, but it should prove to be their hardest game so far.
Rugby Union
Pre-World Cup Friendly – England v Fiji, Twickenham – Amazon Prime – 15.15
Suddenly Fiji looks like a difficult final hurdle for England before their first World Cup game against Argentina in two weeks. Thumped by Ireland last weekend England need to restore some confidence and should be too strong for Fiji, but they won’t find it easy.

The Hundred – Eliminators – The Oval
Women – Northern Superchargers v Welsh Fire – BBC2/BBCi, Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Mix – 14.30
The women’s competition is certain to have a first-time winner after two-time champions Oval Invincibles could only finish fifth in the group stage. The Southern Brave await today’s winners in the final. Welsh Fire are favourites to reach the final.
Men – Manchester Originals v Southern Brave – Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Mix – 18.00
Southern Brave beat the Originals by 6 wickets when they played earlier this week and with their bowling attack of Jordan, Mills and Ahmed are expected to win again against the batting prowess of Buttler and Salt of the Originals and face the Oval Invincibles on Sunday.
Horse Racing
York – Ebor Handicap – ITV1 – 15.35
Can Frankie Dettori continue his triumphal retirement season with a win in this very competitive handicap? He’s riding Absurde for Irish maestro Willie Mullins, but we expect the well-handicapped Scampi trained by Andrew Balding to prevail.

Premier League – Newcastle v Liverpool – Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event – 16.30
This looks like the game to decide who comes second to Man City in the Premiership this year. Liverpool, though unbeaten, haven’t looked that convincing with their new midfield not quite gelling. At least Mac Allister had his red cards rightly rescinded and Endo has had a week to get to know his fellow teammates. Newcastle started well with an excellent win, but hit a reality check when they came up against Man City. A score draw.
Cricket
The Hundred – Finals – Lords
Women – Southern Brave v Northern Superchargers – BBC2, Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Mix – 14.00
The Superchargers are in the final after their elimination game was washed and they had finished higher in the league than their opponents, the Welsh Fire. Southern Brave would be favourites whoever they faced so are expected to win as they did easily in the league.
Men – Oval Invincibles v Manchester Originals – BBC2, Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Mix – 17.00
We called it wrong for Saturday’s elimination games as the Originals’ batters got the better of Brave’s bowlers chasing down the biggest total in the Hundred with Jos Buttler the hero. However the final is at Lord’s where the wicket is not as good as at the Oval. The Invincibles won convincingly when these two sides met in the league when they only lost once and will do so again.

Max Verstappen on pole – Max Verstappen to win. I’m painting my front door this weekend – it will be more exciting.

Scotland ran France close last weekend and Australia improved in Dunedin against the All Blacks in their last match, but Eddie Jones can expect to oversee his fifth consecutives loss as the Wallabies coach.

Can Norwegian Victor Hovland hold on to his 6 shot lead against the chasing pack of Americans including Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, Keegan Bradley and Colin Morikawa to win the season ending Tour Championship? Hovland is on a roll having won twice on the PGA Tour this year winning the BMW Championship last week and the Memorial earlier in the year. Reckon he will hold his nerve and win the biggest tournament of his career.
