Premier League Sheffield Utd v Everton – TNT Sports 1 – 12.30

A relegation six pointer fourth match in! Both sides are involved in last minute transfer deals, hoping to improve their starts to the season. However integrating new players takes time, though Beto is certainly an upgrade for Everton. If the Merseysiders can’t beat newly promoted Sheffield Utd, then Sean Dyche might be the first managerial casualty of the season and the fans can start planning their next season’s  journeys to Hull, Millwall and Bristol.

Premier League – Brighton v Newcastle – Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event – 17.30

Fati going to Brighton looks like the deal of the pre-season. The fact that young Spanish player, originally seen as Messi’s successor, actually wants to go Brighton and work with the manager Roberto De Zerbi is a huge fillip for the club. They sell nearly a whole deal at a vast profit and then build a sparkling new side. Both sides had a good first weekend, but both had a reality check last weekend. Could be the most interesting game of the weekend with Newcastle needing to get back to winning. However Brighton’s nimble forwards to get the better of Newcastle’s ponderous defence.

US Open – New York – Day 6 – Sky Sports Arena 15.30/ Sky Sports Tennis 19.00

Last 32 Men Singles

First match on the Arthur Ashe Stadium is defending champion Carlos Alcaraz against GB’s Dan Evans – an easy win in straight sets for Alcaraz.

On the Grandstand Court Jack Draper takes on Michael Mmoh. Both had good wins in the previous round so expect a close game with Draper to prevail.

The evening game on Arthur Ashe is third seed Daniil Medvedev against Sebastian Baez, seeded 32. Medvedev to make the last 16 with ease.

Premier League

Crystal Palace v Wolves – Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event – 14.00

Wolves won for the first time last weekend, but Crystal Palace seem more workmanlike than inspiring. Wolves have lost Nunes to Man City and Crystal Palace have kept Olise and have strengthened their squad with Dean Henderson and Rob Holding. Roy Hodgson is a canny manager and will expect to get the better of Gary O’Neil who arrived as Wolves manager the week before the season began.

Arsenal v Man Utd – Sky Sports Premier League/Main Event – 16.30

Man Utd have been making some last minute additions to their squad, but have not looked at all convincing so far this season. The same goes for Arsenal, who though unbeaten, don’t seem to have fully integrated their new signings. A messy, exciting game in prospect with the home side the likely winners despite Mikel Arteta’s’ tinkering of last season’s winning formula.

T20 International Series

England v New Zealand – Edgbaston – Game 3 – Sky Sports Cricket – 14.30

England lead the four match series 2-0 having thrashed New Zealand in Durham and at Old Trafford. Can’t see anything changing at Edgbaston with Harry Brook out to prove that he should be part of England’s World Cup squad in India. Completely incomprehensible why he has been omitted. I’m sure after his performances against New Zealand, the selectors will be the error of their ways and include him.

Tennis

US Open – New York – Day 7 – Sky Sports Tennis/Sky Sports Action 19.00

Women’s Singles – Last 32 – Caroline Wozniaki v Coco Gauff

Caroline Wozniacki is having a great comeback Grand Slam tournament in New York, but this is where it ends. Coco Gauff is now showing her true potential and is likely finalist or even winner – Gauff to win in straight sets.
