Nottingham Forest vs Tottenham Hotspur – Sky Sports Premier League – Friday 20:00
This weekend sees the return of Friday night Premier League action. Spurs and Forest find themselves at opposite ends of the table, with both sides equally desperate to come away with the three points.
Steve Cooper and his side will be hoping that they can rediscover some of the home form that helped save them from relegation last season. The main issue as of late has been their lack of goals. It’s clear that they are missing the presence of Taiwo Awoniyi up top, so they will be hoping that either Chris Wood or Divock Origi can finally step up in his absence.
Spurs come into this game with an impressive win against Newcastle Utd last weekend. They will look to kick on and keep up the pace with the other teams around them battling to finish in the top four. Unlike Forest, Tottenham are not lacking goals, but are struggling defensively with no clean sheet in their last seven league matches. The clash also sees Brennan Johnson returning to face his old side.
We expect a very competitive game under the lights at the City Ground with Spurs coming out narrowly on top.
UFC 296 – Edwards vs Covington – TNT Sports Box Office – Sunday 03:00 approx
The last UFC card of the year is upon us, and what better way to go out than with this highly anticipated grudge match across the pond in Las Vegas?
Leon Edwards makes the second defence of his welterweight championship against the pantomime villain, Colby Covington. The pair have been on a collision course for a while now and this weekend we finally get to see who will come out victorious.
The champion will be confident going into this one having successfully defended his title last time out against UFC legend, Kamaru Usman. Covington, who has previously lost to Usman on two occasions hasn’t fought in almost two years which could prove to be a decisive factor as he attempts to go for gold on a third occasion. Will it be third time lucky for Colby?
This one is too close to call but we are backing the Brit to do the business yet again. Expect fireworks!
Jesse Rodriguez vs Sunny Edwards – DAZN – Sunday 03:00 approx
The WBO and IBF World Flyweight titles are on the line in Glendale, Arizona this weekend, as Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez [18-0, 11 KOs] takes on Sunny Edwards [20-0, 4 KOs].
In a battle between arguably the two best flyweights in the world, both men are highly-skilled technicians and so this promises to be an enthralling display of the sweet science, but it’s the Brit who goes in as the underdog.
There is absolutely a chance that a masterful Edwards steps up on the biggest stage and showcases his elite ring IQ and defensive skills to get the win, but with Bam’s heavier hands, reach advantage and quite brilliant footwork, it’s hard to look past the American eventually finding holes in his target and adding another belt to his burgeoning collection, with a possible late stoppage in play.
Liverpool vs Man Utd – Sky Sports Premier League – Sunday 16:30
As much as we would love to tell you how close and competitive this game will be, we would be lying. Manchester United fans brace yourselves – this one could get ugly.
Having lost at home to Bournemouth and Bayern Munich in their last two outings, Erik ten Hag’s side are in a really bad place. Not only is their form extremely worrying, but they have now also picked up injuries to key players like Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw, who are both doubts for the match. Skipper Bruno Fernandes also misses out due to suspension.
Liverpool, on the other hand, have had the luxury of resting some of their star players on Thursday night, having already qualified for the next round of the Europa League. History favours them in this fixture over recent years and they will relish the prospect of getting one over their rivals yet again.
Liverpool home win all the way.
NFL: Dallas Cowboys @ Buffalo Bills – Sky Sports NFL – Sunday 21:25
It’s a bumper weekend of live NFL action with the schedule split across Saturday and Sunday, but the pick of the games in Week 15 takes us to Buffalo where the Bills will host the Dallas Cowboys.
With a big win over the Kansas City Chiefs last time out, the Bills [7-6] are looking to put together a strong winning streak to end the regular season as they hope to leapfrog rivals Miami Dolphins atop the AFC East.
However, they run into one of the most in-form teams in the NFL currently in the 10-3 Cowboys, who have now won five on the bounce and overtook the Philadelphia Eagles at the top of the NFC East last weekend, having won in Philly.
Top seeding is up for grabs in these final few weeks and so that sets up a thrilling finish to the year before the playoffs get underway, and although the Bills showed signs of improvement, it’s difficult to go against Dak Prescott and America’s team in this one given the form that they’re in.
