Coach Roberto Martinez has a strong squad at his disposal, with Cristiano Ronaldo once again set to lead the way as their talisman, but with the likes of Rafael Leao, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva and Ruben Dias providing support and pillars of the side, they’ll have ambitions of going all the way once again this time round.

When: Tuesday June 18, 20:00 KO (UK time)
Where: Leipzig Stadium, Leipzig
How:
UK – BBC, BBCi
Germany – Das Erste/Magenta Sport

They’ll face a difficult first assignment though as a stubborn Czechia will no doubt look to make it difficult and frustrate them as they try to start with a positive result, and so it remains to be seen if Portugal are able to get off to a quick start.

Many of the top nations have begun with impressive wins and so the standard has been set to some degree, and so it will be fascinating to see how Martinez’s side respond as we wrap up the first round of group fixtures.

Ivan Hasek has quality at his disposal, but it will need a collective effort to not only upset Portugal but advance to the knockout stages, whereas their upcoming opponents have decisive and match-winning options across the pitch that usually make the difference in these games.

It may take them a bit of time to find the key to unlock Czechia, but back Portugal to get three points on the board in their opener and kick-start their EURO 2024 campaign in style.
