Horse Racing

Eclipse Stakes, Sandown -15:40 – ITV

A hugely disappointing four runner field for one of the year’s major races worth £425k where the 3 year-olds meet older horses for the first time. The 3 year-old contender is Aidan O’Brien’s unbeaten Paddington winner of the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the St James’s Palace Stakes at Ascot. After a comparatively slow start to the season Aidan O’Brien’s team have found a rich vein of form. Emily Upjohn, 4 year-old filly from the Gosden stable, is the main representative of the older generation, ridden by William Buick instead of her usual jockey Frankie Dettori who is suspended. She is coming down in trip, Paddington up. Sandown is a stiff 10 furlongs so expect the filly to prevail
