TNT Sports have agreed a multi-year TV deal with the NBA to broadcast 250 live games throughout the regular season across TV and streaming platforms.

As officially announced last week, TNT Sports in the UK and Ireland will broadcast 250 live NBA games throughout the regular season as part of a new multi-year deal, in addition to the inaugural In-Season Tournament, Playoffs, Finals and NBA All-Star game.

It comes following the conclusion of the previous deal between the NBA and Sky Sports UK and Ireland, with the joint-venture between BT and Warner Bros Discovery continuing to expand their portfolio of live sports and coverage with a significant acquisition.

Other NBA matches are also expected to be streamed on the Discovery+ app as well as various magazine and highlights shows along with TNT build-up programming to give NBA fans in the UK and Ireland extensive coverage.

“We are hugely excited to be embarking on this journey with the NBA in the UK and Ireland,” said Trojan Paillot, vice president of sports rights acquisitions and syndication at WBD Sports Europe.

“Fans watching basketball on our platforms will have much to look forward to, and we’re privileged to be able to lean on the outstanding foundation of TNT’s broadcasting of the NBA in the United States for over 30 years.

“When TNT Sports launched in July, we reaffirmed that premium rights were a priority for us, and the NBA falls squarely into that category. To have the best players in the world, competing in one of the toughest and entertaining competitions in world sport, is extremely exciting as we further extend our proposition in the UK and Ireland.”

“We are thrilled to build on our long-standing collaboration with TNT in the US to bring live NBA games and programming to our passionate fans in the UK and Ireland,” said Elsa Memmi, NBA Europe and Middle East vice president for global media distribution.

“With regular weekend games in primetime, extensive coverage of our marquee events, and original programming and highlights, fans now have a new home for the NBA.”

The new NBA season gets underway on October 25 with the Los Angeles Lakers visiting the defending champions, the Denver Nuggets, and that’s followed by the Golden State Warriors hosting the Phoenix Suns.

With the likes of Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and many, many more superstar names in action this season, it promises to be another thrilling year in the NBA.
