Match predictions, preview & predicted lineups

Aston Villa will be looking to make it three wins in their opening four league games of the Premier League campaign this weekend, when struggling Everton visit Villa Park looking for a much-needed result.

While there was disappointment after their defeat to Arsenal, Villa have secured wins over West Ham Utd and Leicester City on the road thus far, and with their highly-anticipated Champions League campaign getting underway next week, they’ll hope to secure an important boost at home on Saturday evening.

Matty Cash, Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara are expected to miss out, while there are doubts over Leon Bailey after he picked up a hamstring problem last time out. That in turn could force Emery into a reshuffle with his starting line-up, but he’ll still be confident that his side have the quality to secure all three points.

As for Everton, it’s been a miserable start to the season for Sean Dyche and his men as they sit bottom of the league table after three defeats in three, having conceded 10 goals.

Their capitulation against Bournemouth before the international break will be a real worry for them, and so they could undoubtedly do with a morale boost in this one to get their season started.

It will be difficult given Villa’s form and the class that they have across the pitch, and it’s hard to look past a comfortable home win in this one as Villa may be too much for an Everton side devoid of confidence and ability.

Predicted lineups:

Aston Villa: Martinez, Bogarde, Konsa, Pau, Digne; Onana, Tielemans, McGinn, Rogers, J. Ramsey; Watkins.

Everton: Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Iroegbunam; Harrison, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin
